Because there’s no more time. It’s now or never, and I can’t let it be never. Can’t let my Grace be erased from the timeline like she never existed. Not when I can take the hit instead and everything can go back to the way it was.

Grace, mated to Jaxon.

Me, dead or pretending to be dead, depending on how this goes.

No one remembering me at all, certainly not the woman I love.

The loss of Grace is already an emptiness inside me. It’s an acid in my blood, a burning, gnawing ache that will be with me as long as I live. I’ve never loved anyone the way I love her, never even imagined it was possible to love someone this way.

But I do. And because I do, I’ll do anything for her. Even this. Especially this. Because it’s worth it. More than worth it, if it means that Grace, my beautiful, loving, perfect Grace gets to live. Even if that life doesn’t include me.

I look up at the glowing energy and realize it’s become an arrow now, spinning through the air as it races down, down, down toward Grace. And so I fade faster than I ever have in my entire life, slamming through the crowd like it doesn’t exist.

I’m almost there. Almost there. Almost—

I jump in front of Grace, wrap myself around her.

And bam. The world explodes in a kaleidoscope of colors.

What Grace Around
Comes Around
—Grace—

I wake up slowly, with a headache and an upset stomach that feels an awful lot like what I imagine a hangover is like. Which is strange, considering I don’t remember having anything to drink last night at all. In fact, I don’t really remember anything about last night, except—

Holy shit!

I roll over in a hurry, reaching a hand out for Hudson as I do. And nearly end up rolling right off the couch.

What the hell?

I hold on to the cushion for dear life.

When did we even get a couch? And why am I sleeping on it instead of in bed with Hudson? We always sleep together.

Confused, disoriented, and more than a little concerned, I sit up quickly and look around. As I do, I realize I’m not at the inn. In fact, I’m not in the Shadow Realm at all. I’m back in Hudson’s lair.

How? Why?

I jump off the couch, panicked, and practically do a 360-degree turn as I search for Hudson. I finally find him—or at least a Hudson-shaped lump—in bed, with the covers yanked up to the top of his head.

Oh my God. He’s here. He’s here and so am I.
