“The bright blue one. It’s hard to miss.”
He’s right. It is hard to miss. I definitely noticed it, but that didn’t mean I knew what it was. Realizing that he clearly has for a while makes me feel all kinds of things—none of them good.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I demand, moving so I’m no longer trapped between him and the wall. “How long have you known?”
When he doesn’t immediately answer me, I start to freak out. “That long?” I screech. “So long that you don’t even want to tell me how long?”
“Awhile, okay? I’ve known awhile.”
“Awhile?” I throw my hands up in the air. “And you didn’t think that maybe you should tell me about it?”
“Why would I tell you about it?” he snarls. “It’s not like you’ve exactly been interested in talking about it.”
“What does that even mean? I have been throwing myself at you for weeks, and you haven’t so much as given me the time of day!”
“Is that what you call what you’ve been doing?” He lifts a brow. “Throwing yourself at me?”
“I told you I wanted to climb you like a tree! That’s pretty damn clear, if you ask me.”
“You did, yeah. But you never even thought about what it means that you felt that way, right? The idea of being mated to me is so out of your scope of thought that it never once even occurred to you that we might be mates.” He shoves a frustrated hand through his hair. “How do you think that makes me feel?”
“I don’t know,” I shoot back. “Because you never tell me how you feel.”
“Don’t give me that bullshit. I never tell you because you don’t want to know.”
“Oh really?” I cross my arms over my chest in a “do your worst” gesture. “Please, oh great Hudson Vega, tell me how you really feel about me.”
His eyes narrow. “I don’t need this.”
“Of course you don’t,” I mock. “Why would you when you could use it as one more excuse to avoid actually talking to me.”
“So it’s my fault now?” he asks, incredulous.
“Well, it sure as shit isn’t mine,” I tell him sarcastically. “All you have to do is tell me how you feel, and you can’t do it. You won’t do it.”
“I love you!” he snarls.

Need You Tonight
—Grace—
Shock ricochets through me. “What did you just say?”
“You heard me,” he answers as he advances on me. “I’m not going to say it again.”
“You can’t just drop that on me—”
“Oh yeah. I can,” he tells me. “Now what are you going to do about it?”
I have no freaking idea what I’m going to do about it. How could I?
