- TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
- ALSO BY KENDRA
His other hand comes up to my neck, the one he’d gotten bloody, and wraps around it, not squeezing, but as if it’s a necklace he’s placing against my collarbone. I can feel the wetness of the blood when it gets on me but fuck if I care. I kiss him furiously, as if my life depends on it, desperate for him to fuck me right here and right now.
But in the distance, we hear shouting, and we both break apart at the same time, looking in that direction. I’m panting and I don’t know if it’s from the long run or from trying to suck Jiro’s tongue down my throat. I guess it doesn’t matter.
“We should find the others,” he says, looking down at me with a tenderness I’m not prepared for.
I nod as if I actually have all my senses. Yeah. We should find the others.
Before I fuck this man in the middle of a pile of corpses.
Somehow, that thought doesn’t even turn my stomach. It only ramps up my arousal more.
TWENTY-NINE
I must have run a long way from the others during the chase. The further we walk, the more I’m able to think again. Slowly, the brain fog clears, and I can make out the path I took. It’s so easy to track it disgusts me. No wonder they were chasing me. I was the easy target.
Glancing over at Jiro, I study the way he wipes the blood from his hand before he passes the small cloth to me.
“You have blood on your neck,” he says. There’s no nervousness about that. He doesn’t expect me to freak out, and I appreciate it. I take the scrap of fabric and wipe my neck and collarbone, making sure to get as much as I can off. I’ll need water to get it completely clean but for now, it’ll do.
“So,” I say, handing the fabric back to him. “Where did you learn to move like that?”
He shoots me a grin. “The kiss or the killing?”
A snort slips out and I clamp my hand over my mouth in embarrassment before glaring at the smile on his face. “The killing. Obviously.”
He falls silent for a moment before he glances at me. Clearly, he’s uncomfortable talking about it but when he still speaks, I appreciate that he’s willing to try. “You have heard of the Yakuza?”
“Umm,” I reply, biting my lip. “Aren’t they like the mafia?”
He shrugs. “You can call it what you want. They’re a large part of Japan. I’d argue they’re so well integrated into society there, it’s almost normal.”
When Jiro looks away, I know the story is going to be good. “Are they still active?”
