  70. TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
  71. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
  72. ALSO BY KENDRA

I shrug, uncaring anymore about this stupid fucking Loyd and the audacity he had. He fucked with the wrong bitch and he’ll get his soon enough. “I’m here now, right?” I say, hating that I’ve accepted it. “Nothing to be done. Let’s keep going and you can apologize for your asshole friends later.”

“Not my friends,” he grunts, glaring down at the corpses at our feet.

“Whatever. Don’t do anything stupid. None of us will hesitate to shoot you if you decide to try and shoot us. We’re keeping a close eye on you.”

“Understandably,” he says. Our eyes meet and linger, too long. “How close?”

If he turns out to be an enemy, I’m going to shoot him right between his pretty little eyes.

“Real close,” I reply, but I soften it with a wink. “Be smart, Woodrow Hawthorne the Fourth,” I move. “I’d hate to mess up such a perfectly sculpted face.”

And then I lead the way past him, gesturing that we need to get moving again.

“By the way, who did you request?” I hear Jiro ask him, his voice hard.

“I didn’t,” Row answers. “I refused to sign the box and they chose for me.” His voice softens like he doesn’t want to be heard by the others. “My dad said they picked a survival nut to make things interesting. I don’t care. I just want to get out of here as soon as I possibly can.”

My eyes trail around the group and focus on Achilles where he walks blissfully unaware that the reason he’s on this island is now on our team.

God help the Hound if Achilles finds out. That is if the big guy upstairs still takes requests.

I happen to think he got tired of us long ago, packed up a suitcase, and left.

Sad thing is, I wouldn’t blame him.

I wouldn’t blame him at all.

TWENTY-ONE

ROW

They don’t tie me up. I suppose it’s not necessary when they took all my weapons, and they could simply overpower me. Of the men, I’m certainly the shortest and least built, but I’m not worried about it. I’m just an asset right now, but if I can play my cards right, perhaps I can get off this bloody island with them. I have no business being here and I’m really cursing my father for convincing me it was necessary. I’m not build for violence. I’m built for private yachts and top shelf chardonnay.
