- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
- ALSO BY KENDRA
He strokes me once more, making my legs tremble, before he jerks me up and straightens my dress. Only then does he adjust himself and zip up his pants. He leans down and rips a piece of the dead man’s shirt off and when I think he’s going to use it to clean me up between my legs, he instead takes my hand and wipes the blood away.
“I’m going to drip through the party,” I warn, already feeling the liquid between my thighs.
“Good,” he replies, meeting my eyes. “Leave a trail behind that declares you taken.” He presses a hard kiss against my lips. “Now let’s go. We have a boat to catch.”
FORTY-EIGHT
We both slip out of the room, careful to keep the view of the man behind us small in case anyone is watching. When we come out, a few eyes turn to us and grin knowingly, clearly thinking I look deliciously fucked even without them focusing too hard on my face. I’m thankful for the alcohol flowing freely and the clear lack of concern whether the Prey has joined the predators. They don’t even realize the danger in their midst.
My eyes sweep around the room, searching, hoping. When I see Creed moving through the room dressed as a waiter, a tray of champagne flutes balanced on his hand, I breathe a sigh of relief. A little further down, I see Row and Achilles moving through the party in suits they must have stolen from party goers or found somewhere. All of them move separately, making sure not to draw attention by moving together. Achilles is wearing a bowtie, because of course he is, but Row looks like he belongs in the fitted suit he wears. For a moment, I wonder if it’s actually his, it fits so well.
It's then I remember who he is, what he is, and that he probably has his own belongings here. We’ve brought one of the Hounds into our group, and it’s easy to forget exactly what he is. That could be his suit. He could easily turn on us right now and decide it isn’t worth it. He’s gotten what he wanted, to get off the island. All it would take now is to let someone know who and what is here. But he doesn’t. Instead, he moves along in the same direction as the rest of us.
