- TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
- ALSO BY KENDRA
At least, he doesn’t move at first.
“Kill him!” they shout, rushing him.
What happens next is like someone choreographed a battle dance for Jiro alone. One minute, he’s standing there looking unassuming. They next, he’s spinning in circles, sliding that knife into guts and across necks. Within the first five seconds, two bodies hit the ground. Within ten, there are only two left standing. One tries to run but the other gets a sense of bravery that has him rushing Jiro. I don’t even see him move. The Hound falls to the forest floor, his innards spilled across the foliage. Without hardly looking at the Hound running through the trees, he throws a knife and hits him right between the shoulder blades. The final one goes down and I stand, staring at the scene with wide eyes.
Six bodies and Jiro doesn’t even have a scratch on him. No wonder they sent so many when kidnapping him.
He slides the blade back into the hidden sheath and comes back over to me. He swipes his thumb beneath my right eye, presumably to get rid of a dirt smear there. “Are you okay?”
I open my mouth, but no words come out. Jesus. He’d killed six men in less than a minute. That has to be a record or something, right? I expect to be surprised, to be disgusted by the scene around me. At some point, the bodies will start to fester, and we should leave before any of their bowels scent the air, but all I can feel is. . .
Arousal.
Why the fuck am I so turned on right now?
Jiro’s brows furrow at my expression. “Billie?” He cups my chin and tilts my head up, studying my face. Maybe he thinks I have a concussion?
Either way, I have lost my damn senses because instead of answering, I stand on my tiptoes, wrap my arm around his neck, and pull his head down to mine before he can really understand what’s happening.
His lips are soft against mine, intimate, and even as he starts to kiss me back, I give it all. Fuck, I’d walk into hell if he was holding my hand. The way this man controls his surroundings, the way he just saved me from a situation that I thought would kill me, I’ll strip right here and let him have his way with me. That cool and calm exterior hiding a madman is one of the hottest things I’ve ever witnessed.
