- ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“Silencer!” Creed growls as he ducks and throws his arm over my shoulders to make sure I stay down. As if I’m dumb enough to stand up in this. “Which direction did it come from?”
“What the fuck!” I growl, annoyed. “Can’t even fucking walk without being shot at. I hate this place.”
“Stay down!” Creed commands as he pulls his rifle from his shoulder and aims it. I guess he figured out which direction.
“I was planning on it.” I get on my stomach and begin to army crawl through the brush, tiny sticks nicking me as I pass. I need to get out of the way so the others can do what they do, but when I look to my right, it’s to find Row right beside me, trying to remove himself just like I am.
“What are you doing?” I growl. “Weren’t you trained?”
“That doesn’t mean I want to bloody well die!” he spits back, hastily dragging himself around. I have to admit, he moves like he knows what he’s doing even if he doesn’t want to be here.
Creed reaches down and clamps a hand around Row’s shoulder. He jerks him up before shoving a gun in his hand, giving the Hound no choice. “Shoot, motherfucker!”
Row, with no other option, points the gun and shoots just like Creed commands, his body tense as bullets continue to fly past at a dizzying speed. Bark sprays outward from where the bullets make contact. Jiro fires his own weapon, firing far less than Creed but hitting his target more often. Achilles simply stands there and throws a knife every now and then. Later, I’m going to give him shit for not bothering to carry a gun. It would have come in handy right about now.
I’m crawling, moving along, trying to get out of the way. I push the brush aside, and go to move forward, but before I can, a boot stops my path. I look up, following the boot attached to a leg attached to a man and find one who is clearly a Hound. But he’s not looking down at me like I expected. Instead, he’s got his gun aimed right on Row’s back.
“Fucking traitor,” he grunts under his breath, clearly too focused on Row to notice me at his feet.
