  70. TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
  71. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
  72. ALSO BY KENDRA

“A man who doesn’t speak up against injustice is as much responsible as those committing the evil,” Jiro points out.

Row’s face darkens. “I never said I was a good person. I just said I have no interest in killing people for some stupid society. I don’t have plans on following in my father’s footsteps.”

Creed finally lowers his gun and tucks it away. “I bet dear old daddy will love that.”

“He’ll be disappointed I’m sure,” Row adds with a shrug. “The Hound Society is well known for its cruelty and involvement in the dark underbelly of the elite lifestyle. Once you’re a part of it, they can control you. I have no interest in that.”

Achilles raises his brows. “You don’t think they’ll kill you for the slight?”

“I’m protected,” he replies. “Unless I’m killed on Prey Island, I’m a no target because my father is in the society. Those in the society, their immediate families are off limits.”

I look between the others and shrug. “I say we keep him with us. He works as leverage and information.”

“I’m not a half bad shot,” Row adds, his eyes going over to the body of the man he shot again. His skin looks a little green at the sight of it.

“Oh, you won’t be carrying a gun, not yet,” Creed grunts. “You think we’re idiots? You have all the motivation to kill the four of us and show up with a trophy.”

“Look, I saved the woman—”

“And yet you’re still affiliated with the people who brought us here,” Creed snarls. “Excuse us for being wary of you shooting us in the backs.” He grabs the rifle Row had been carrying and slings it over his back. “You’ll get this back if we decide you can have it back.”

Row raises his brow but sighs. “Fine. Whatever. If you let me go, I’ll just—”

“Oh, you’re not going anywhere,” I say, bringing his attention back to me. “And this woman has a name, it’s Billie.” I clap him on the shoulder. “Welcome to the team, Row. Looks like you’re going to be helping us get off this island.”

“I don’t know about—”

“It wasn’t a question,” I cut him off savagely, my eyes hard. Row is attractive, sure. Most rich people have the ability to look good with the unlimited money at their disposal so it shouldn’t be surprising. Still, he’s conventionally attractive so it’s hard to look him in the eye without also seeing his chiseled jaw and plush lips. I manage though. “You’re part of the team now.”

He hesitates. “You weren’t supposed to be on this island, Billie. Loyd circumnavigated the rules. . .”
