  70. TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
  71. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
  72. ALSO BY KENDRA

“If by entertainment, you mean watching me gut you from nutsack to chest, then sure.” I hold the knife in front of me, but my other hand presses against my pocket and slips inside just enough to not cause alarm. They don’t even pay attention, their eyes on Creed where he holds the rifle in his hands. He hasn’t even raised it despite two of their guns trained on him. He’s the picture of ease.

“You’ve got a mouth on you,” the one called Harry says. “I hope it sucks as good as it spits.”

“Oh, it bites, too,” I warn as my fingers touch the metal of the pistol in my pocket. “You put your hands on me, you won’t have hands any more.”

The three stooges laugh, as if I’m just hilarious. Haha, I should have been a comedian. Assholes. What is it with men thinking women can’t do shit? Half of the reason I’m going to survive this island is because I’m going to prove I can.

Clearly, these three are a threat, especially if they’re talking about rape so cavalier. I knew it was going to be a threat—men are absolute trash—but I’d hoped I’d run into it less, and now with Creed with me, I hoped it wouldn’t happen it all. Yet here we are. Men never change.

“There’re no laws here,” the stooge on the right says. “That means we can tie you usp and do whatever we want with you.” He glances at Creed. “Maybe we’ll let the big guy watch since he kept you alive for us.”

“What makes you think it was him keeping me alive?” I ask, raising my brow. I flick the safety off on the gun in my pocket. Harry seems to notice my hand in my pocket, but it doesn’t register what I might have in there. It’s hard to believe someone thought these fine specimens would be difficult to hunt.

They laugh. “You trying to say you’re protecting him?” the middle one asks, making the other two laugh again. “That’s a fucking—”

Creed moves before I even know he is. For such a big motherfucker, he’s fast. I jerk as he charges forward, slamming the butt of his rifle into the head of the middle guy, dropping him like a sack of potatoes. One hit. That’s all it takes him to drop the guy.

Not wanting to stand here uselessly, I pull the pistol and aim for the largest part of Harry’s body while he fumbles with his gun and aims at Creed. I’m pulling the trigger before I think any further, determined to keep Creed from being shot in the back while he takes down the other guy. He’s my safety net. I can’t have him dying on me.
