  70. TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
  71. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
  72. ALSO BY KENDRA

Creed hands his over and his eyes catch on mine, our fingers brushing in a way that leaves me heated. “Watch your surrounding so no one ambushes you,” he orders, as if he knows I’ll do something that could distract us.

I mean, he’s not wrong.

What better way to cheer a man up than with sex?

And since my tryst with Creed, I’ve been craving them all more and more. Even Achilles with his smart mouth makes me think about how cruel he would be while fucking. I bet he’s an animal.

Row follows me dutifully and takes a few of the canteens, helping me along as we look for the stream. It’s about fifty yards from out camp, close enough to get back if needed but far enough that we have privacy.

“You okay?” I ask, glancing over at him as we get to work filling the canteens.

He shrugs. “I didn’t want to be in the Hound Society.”

“But you are now,” I reply, raising my brow. “Use it.”

“Look, I appreciate the sentiment, but you don’t know anything about. . .”

He trails off when he sees the expression on my face and grimaces. “Sorry.”

“That’s what I thought,” I grunt, filling another canteen. “Just because your daddy’s rich and made you play this game doesn’t mean you have it bad. You get to survive this pretty easily. Us, we’re no different than deer and rabbits out here trying to avoid the gun. If anyone doesn’t understand things, it’s you.”

“You’re right,” he admits. “I’m sorry. I’m just. . .frustrated and angry. I didn’t mean to take it out on you.”

I nod. “Apology accepted.”

I finish my canteens and check to make sure Row finishes his before I take a seat on the edge.

“What are you doing?” he asks. “Shouldn’t we get back?”

“Take a seat,” I say, patting the ground beside me. “Let’s take a moment.”

He hesitates for a second before settling beside me with a heavy sigh. “What is it we’re taking a moment for, supreme leader?” I furrow my brows in question. “Because you lead them. Though they’d probably argue with you about it if you brought it up. They still all look to you when making decisions, even Achilles, the asshole.” He glances at me. “I’ve seen the way they look at you, at the way Creed looks at you.”

“And?” I study him closely, taking in his pretty bourbon-colored eyes and the chiseled jaw.

“I’m jealous,” he answers. “Fuck, I know I’m the weak one out here. I have no business being in the jungle—”

“Hey, cut that shit out,” I order, and he stops talking. “We’re a team, and we’re going to get off this island. You’re helping with that. That makes you a valuable asset and partner.”
