- TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…
- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
- ALSO BY KENDRA
I stomp forward and shove the door open, expecting it all to be an illusion or my paranoia and foolish hope pulling me again. I nearly stumble back in surprise when I find the four of them inside in various forms of leisure. Achilles is sitting in my office chair, his feet kicked up on my desk. Creed stands to the side, his arms crossed over his massive chest and a soft smile on his face. Row is leaning back on the desk, sitting on the edge of it. And Jiro, he stands over at the shelves, looking over my collections before turning to meet my eyes with a smile.
“You found me,” I breathe.
“It wasn’t too difficult,” Row snorts and gestures at the club. “You literally opened a place that mocks the Hound Society.”
“Yeah, well,” I growl, crossing my arms. “They don’t seem to care. No one has come asking questions.” When they don’t answer, I take a hesitant step inside the room. My throat clogs with emotion. “I thought I’d never see you again,” I whisper, addressing all of them. “When none of you called, I thought—”
“We’d never leave our best girl behind,” Achilles grunts, cutting me off. “Silly of you to think we wouldn’t come.”
I grimace. “I didn’t know what to think.”
Creed shrugs. “I like what you did with the money.”
I blink at him. “There are funds set up for each of you—”
“Keep it,” he grunts and raises his brow. “We didn’t come for that.” He glances at the others. “We have a different idea.”
“Oh?” I ask, meeting their eyes. “And what is that?”
Row straightens and the emblem on his suit jacket flashes in the light, a Hound biting a rabbit. He raises his brow and grins. “We’re taking down the Hound Society from the inside out,” he declares.
Jiro strolls over and runs his hand down my hip before leaning in. “You in, little rabbit?”
Grinning, I fist his shirt and drag him in for a kiss. “Of course, I’m in,” I say against his lips.
We played the game. We won. We survived. But now the Hound Society will fall.
Dismantle the gods.
Take down their empires.
Destroy them from within.
In the end, they’re all made of flesh that can be cut and bones that can be broken. They aren’t holy but their deaths will be.
“Let’s go eat us some Hounds, boys,” I growl, dragging them all to me, a family I never planned on finding on an island in the middle of the sea.
