- TO CONTINUE THE ADVENTURE…

“Achilles and I will gather the supplies for the rafts and get to work making them,” Jiro says, nodding.
“Why do I have to make the rafts?” Achilles groans.
“Because you’re the survival expert, dumbass,” I growl. “Besides, you’re better at tying knots.”
His eyes heat at the reminder. “That I am.” He nods. “Carry on.”
“That means Billie, Row, and I will go find more weapons,” Creed continues.
I brace my hands on my hips. “How are we going to do that? It’s not like there’s weapons just sitting around except for back at the airstrip.”
“There’s weapons sitting around,” Creed reminds me. “Plenty of people have died since the beginning and their weapons are where they lay if someone hasn’t taken them. We gather what we can and if we find nothing, we’ll make weapons.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Achilles says, clapping his hands together. “Come on then, sparrow man, and we’ll start gathering wood.”
Jiro looks at Achilles strangely before following after him to gather what we’ll need. Creed, Row, and I set off in a different direction, searching for anything that can be used as a weapon.
“Maybe we can take a couple of those coconut crabs and release them on unsuspecting victims,” I say, drawing a laugh from Creed’s throat.
“My ass still burns at the thought of it. Lucky that it’s pretty much healed.”
Row snorts. “You got bit on the ass by a crab?”
“Coconut crabs are fucking massive, okay. I was sleeping,” Creed grumbles.
We move along the coast just inside the trees, back toward the tower in the hopes that we’ll come across more weapons. Maybe someone else found the tower and died there. Hell, I’d be lying if I didn’t think about suicide in the beginning. Someone else must have had the same thought. At least then you go out on your own terms. I’ve long since decided that no one gets to decide when I die. But maybe someone else will have left us some guns.
Because we already cleared a path from the tower to the cliffs, it takes less time to get back to it. After only three hours, the tower comes back into view. When I look up at it, I’m reminded again of the sex I’d had on the roof, how mind-blowing it was. Creed glances at me in amusement, as if he knows what I’m thinking about, and I do my best not to reveal that’s exactly what I’m doing. Once the tower comes completely into view, we doublecheck there’s no one waiting for us and start searching for weapons.
“Check in corners. Someone could have left them leaning,” Creed instructs.
We search the area, trying to find any weapons, but I don’t find any. Sighing in defeat, I turn.
