The flowers I sent her were an inspired move, one to make her remember, to remind her what she has done, and to let her know this isn’t over.
I had hoped she would panic, that it would scare her, but never once did I dream it would make her want to confront her past.
If I hadn’t been there at the time, I wouldn’t have believed it. First Mum’s house, then the farm.
I wonder what Hannah planned to say if Mum had answered the door.
Sorry for ruining your life?
Sorry I couldn’t just shut up and take the punishment I deserved?
Sorry I was in your home and forgot that a mother always knows best?
Of course it would be none of those things. That is just wishful thinking. No, she had gone there to attack and accuse. Still taking the righteous and almighty stance that she is the victim.
Her visit was a waste of time of course. Mum is no longer at the house and she won’t be coming back. Thanks to Hannah and her friends, she has been judged and sentenced, and the finger of blame will never go away.
They need to pay for that, particularly Hannah and Rosie.
Their evidence is the reason Mum went to prison. It is because of them that I ended up in a young offender’s home.
I have worked hard over the years to build myself back up, to create a respectable life for myself, knowing that when Mum was released, it would be my job to look after her.
Just as it is my job to atone her.
All I have ever wanted is to prove myself to my mother, to have her tell me she is proud.
I know people say she was cruel, but they don’t understand. She was only trying to educate me, to make me into the perfect son. One she could love and be proud of.
It won’t take much to tip Rosie over the edge. A simple phone call and a little bit of graffiti have already proven how easy it is to scare her.
As for Hannah, I am just getting warmed up. If an innocent gesture like flowers prompts this kind of reaction, I can’t wait to see how she responds to the other things I have planned.
I am going to enjoy every moment of watching her unravel. And when she is finally at her weakest, that is when I plan to finally reveal myself to her.

Hannah hated showing any sign of weakness and she had been kicking herself for telling Liam she wanted to go to the farm.
Yet, it would be easier with someone else there, she had surmised. They would go inside together and she would manage to remain calm and detached as she viewed the place of her childhood nightmares, finally putting them behind her once and for all.
