  72. About Boldwood Books

Should he have called an ambulance?

He had thought of Miles. The boy he had been, the man he would have become if given a chance. Then he had considered Hannah and the scars she carried, afraid to return to her childhood home for a party. Eileen had shown zero remorse and appeared to still be tormenting the Hixton Five.

Finally, at peace with his decision, he had gone back to Hannah.

She had been annoyed with him at first for disappearing on her, but he couldn’t tell her the truth of where he had been. Eventually she forgave him and he went to Hixton with her to help her fight her demons.

To this day, he hadn’t told anyone he had gone to Lincolnshire and it was a secret he intended to take to the grave. It was easier that way. Hannah was safe and justice had been served for Miles. Liam took comfort in knowing that Eileen Wickham could never hurt anyone ever again.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

My first novel for Boldwood Books and a huge thank you to the lovely team for their very warm welcome. I might write the stories, but I know it takes many people to polish them to a publishable standard and then make them shine, and I believe Boldwood have the very best people to do this.

I must single out my editor, Caroline Ridding. I am so excited to finally be working with her and she has undoubtedly made my book so much better than when I first presented it to her. We never stop learning and evolving, and I love that she is pushing me to be a better writer. My thanks also to Jade Craddock, who did a fantastic copy edit and came up with some brilliant suggestions, and also Emily and Sue who helped polish the final version.

To my family. Thank you for putting up with me when I am grumpy and on deadline.

There are so many supportive folk in the writing world and I hate mentioning names, because I always forget people, so I am going to do a collective shout-out to the brilliant gang at Team Beev, who always have my back with all things bookish. I appreciate you all more than you know.

To Lexi Hartman and Nicola Finch. Competition winners to have their names mentioned in the book. Thank you, ladies. And also, to two of the most supportive book groups on Facebook – Bitchy Bookworms and Book Swap Central. Thank you to all of the lovely readers and admin for buying and spreading word of my books.

A mention next to a very special young man, Will Hagg. One of the coolest kids I know. Thank you for my crash course on Snapchat.
