Dominic has almost entirely stopped following up on project work. Rahul Gupta is pretty much running the project on his own. Bugger is constantly looking over our shoulders when we work. So I am going to go do my investment research in the innovation room. My plan is to research options today. Shortlist options tomorrow. And then call Isle of Man on the day after.

Where to start? Equities? Mutual funds? Hedge funds?

Feeling very lost. Have to think on my feet more than I have ever thought on my feet in my life.

Too much pressure. Almost no appetite. Constant vomiting feeling.

2.42 p.m.

Why is Sugandh spending the whole day hanging around the Dufresne team? And then when Kurt began complaining about his laptop why was Sugandh the first to offer to help?

My suspicions were correct. I am almost 100% sure that Sugandh is a mole for the SEC. All the indications are there:

  1. He joined around the time Lederman II started.
  2. Somehow he managed to get as close as possible to the CEO’s office.
  3. No one suspects him because he looks and sounds incompetent.
  4. Within one week he was looking comfortable in a suit and talking like a banker
  5. He is constantly fiddling with computers and laptops.
  6. How did he know about Isle of Man and the LLTLF fraud?
  7. And now suddenly he is all friendly and helpful to the Dufresne team?
  8. He has a tendency for blackmailing.

Have to be very very careful around him till I can confirm one way or the other. If he is the mole then I must do everything I can to defeat him.

6.09 p.m.

Still no clarity whatsoever on what to do. I’ve read analysts reports, Wikipedia entries on investing, Googled for ‘Urgent ideas for good investments’ and all kinds of things. Nothing concrete. Sent emails to Teja, Paro, Shashank, Fatty and a bunch of other guys from campus. Only Teja replied. He wants me to put all my money in Reliance.

So far that is the only idea I have.

Fuck. Nothing is going right man. And I am running out of time.

7.00 p.m.

Brainwave! Maybe even Spark Of Brilliance!

I need to find a Bloomberg Terminal. I think there is one outside Tom’s office.

7.06 p.m.

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

THINGS ARE BEGINNING TO FALL APART!

Four guys in suits are in Tom’s office going through documents. Sugandh standing inside with them. Secretary nowhere to be seen.

I ran back to the innovation room.

Where can I find a fucking terminal?

10.00 p.m.

There is no one else in the office. So it is very quiet. Most of the lights are off. The trading floor is completely empty except for me. I am using one of the terminals on the commodities floor.
