And then I tell him, for the 100th time, that he got an average rating because he performed averagely. He refuses to accept. Begins arguing. I am really bored now. I tell him that his rating was also because he whines too much and because I don’t like the look on his face. Either he can accept his rating. Or he is free to work for any other bank. Rahul leaves looking devastated. Chutiya saala.
Around 7 p.m. I get a call from the CEO’s office. Come whenever you are free, he says. After I am done practising I get up and go. Andre asks me if I am going home. ‘Maybe,’ I tell him just to fuck with his mind. The CEO hands me over my bonus cheque. There are so many zeroes that it takes me a while to figure how much it is. Oh my. This is very good. He shakes my hand and asks me if I am happy. I tell him I am ok. No point in making him overconfident. Goldman Sachs has been bugging me to interview for months.
After work I buy Gouri some flowers and walk back home. I take a longer route past the new Porsche showroom. There is a new model inside that I can’t stop thinking about. I ask them if they have it in purple. They say they could paint it for me if I want.
I want.
When I go home Gouri is doing aerobics on the terrace. I show her a picture of the car. She gasps in astonishment. Always buying things for yourself, she says. And then I put my hands in my pocket and take out a 23 carat diamond ring. A small surprise for her on bonus day. She is thrilled. Dinner is by moonlight. Leftover caviar everywhere. But I can’t eat another piece. Gouri is full too.
We sip on glasses of whisky. And then we go to the bedroom. I put on some smooth jazz and change into a smooth silk lungi.
Outside New York is still awake. Inside …
- The End -
Diary, what if I had become a banker? Just imagine how life would have been like …
But I am not. So I am staying in this government boys hostel, eating pizza and working like a dog. Have to sit all night making a report for Rahul Gupta.
One day Diary. One day.

Ha ha ha ha ha.
So Jenny’s internship gets over at the end of this month. She asked Tom who would take over from her.
And whom do you think Tom wants to lead LLTLF after Jenny?
Ha ha ha ha. Einstein.
