  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

We were back on the private jet. All I could think about was Don Carlos saying the Li Organization had a marker on my head. I knew those nightmares I was having while I was locked up were a fuckin’ sign that some shit was about to go down.

“First order of business, our families,” I said.

“Women and children are supposed to be off limits.” Kay punched his fist into the palm of his hand. The Chinese Triad? Just the name alone lets me know that we can’t be too fuckin’ lax when dealing with these jokers. Nothing is off limits to them muthafuckas. We have to have a solid Plan B.”

“Agreed. Again, first priority is to secure our families. Second priority put someone on Seven. The Don wants to move in on her territory as soon as possible. He wants to hit her where it hurts. Who should we put on that?” I asked him. I could see his mind churning to determine the best man for such a high-risk job.

“I’ma say Bo. He’s out there anyway,” Kay said.

“I say Faheem. He needs to replenish his war chest and it’s his town. Use Bo as his backup. Plus, the nigga needs something dirty to do.” I knew that was fucked up to say, but I could see it. Faheem’s spirit left with the death of his son. He was primed for what the Don needed done and anxious to get back in the game. He told me that himself.

“Then it’s settled. What did you get from our meeting?” Kay asked.

“He said Li was a thorn in both of our sides. And he left that open. He got me thinking that this trip is about Charles Li. How and why? I don’t know. And what the fuck he need us to attend some bitcoin conference for? It’s not adding up.”

“To me neither. But what choice do we have other than to go and let it play out?”

JAZ

“Girl, why didn’t you call me? I heard you almost had the baby.” I could tell Tasha was happy to hear from me. “So, now you’re on bed rest?”

“Yes, but false labor, Jaz. My body is trippin’ and Trae is seriously trippin’.” She sighed.

“Tell me what’s up? Trippin’ about what?”

“He done went and watched a fuckin’ video of Kyron…you know. The rape. Now the nigga can’t even see or think straight. He is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde around this bitch.”

“What the h—why?” I couldn’t believe all the drama those two kept attracting and I was not ready for the bombshell that she dropped.

“I don’t know. He was determined to check out what was in that envelope that Mari gave him and now he can’t take it. The tension is so thick around here, I’m having trouble breathing.”
