  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

“That’s her, and that locket is the confirmation.” Trae slid the doors shut. His jaw clenched. “They spying on us and we need to figure out why ‘cause she’s been in your house and around our wives and children.”

Chapter Nine

FAHEEM

“Can someone explain to me what the fuck is going on? I thought we were having a celebration. Y’all negroes done turned the party dark. I mean, this is supposed to be a party not a funeral.” I was dead serious. The tension had gone from zero to sixty in a matter of seconds, and I was trying to figure out what the fuck was going on, why it was going on and whose head I needed to bust all at the same damn time.

“Can y’all excuse me and Trae for a few minutes?” Kay had the nerve to ask us.

“What?” Bo asked.

“Exactly. How you going to insult us like that?” I couldn’t believe that Kay asked us to leave the room.

“B, my sentiments exactly. At least grant a nigga the respect and let me know what the situation is and give me the chance to decide if I’m in or not.” Bo snapped.

“My brothers, y’all know that I meant no disrespect. As a matter fact, my respect for you is why I’m asking y’all to leave the room. Everyone is at a point in their lives where they don’t need any unnecessary drama or bullshit. We get enough of that with our wives. And we can deal with that. But why would I get y’all involved in something that could disrupt your existence? Where the outcome could be a toe tag or a jail cell?” Kaylin told us.

I wasn’t trying to hear that shit. He and Trae knew that Bo and I were always down for whatever, especially when it came to the family. Trae was standing in the corner, head down, hands buried in his pocket. I needed to know what the hell was brewing.

“Trae, what’s up?” That was Kaylin pretty much wanting to know from Trae if he wanted to involve us or not.

“Who did Kevin tell you that she was?” Trae had turned his attention on me. I didn’t know he knew that I had a conversation with Kevin.

“He said Sev or Seven. She owns an exotic used car lot.”

“Damn!”
