  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

And according to them, he was on his way to China, but he had a couple of stops. Once he arrived and they had him, I was free to go. All I had to do was arrange the meeting. I couldn’t share any of this knowledge with Kay until after it was all said and done.

“How am I supposed to set up a meeting?”

“Use his attorney or his daughter, Charli Li. She’s already inquiring of your whereabouts and taking steps to facilitate your release. It’s exactly what we wanted to happen.”

I was livid. What was being done to me and asked of me was bananas. Use his daughter Charli Li? Shit, I was trying to fix my marriage and they wanted me to jeopardize it for the same bitch I fucked it up wit’ before. At this point I was more scared of Tasha than I was of the Black Jail. The second Tasha get wind that she was involved, my ass was toast.

Chapter Thirty-One

ANGEL

Time flies! A couple more years, and we would be knocking on thirty. Dirty thirty is what they call it. The four of us had been friends since the eighth grade, and our dream was to live in a brownstone together like the cast of Living Single. But that wasn’t how we’d been thrust together.

I’d been cramped up in this small ass house, with all of these post-partum, mood swinging chicks, busy ass kids and newborns crying . . . long enough. I needed a change of scenery. And the tension was building. Teeth smacking, mumbling, doors slamming, things were coming to a head. Them niggas better hurry up and make something happen before we were up in here fighting. If it weren’t for homeschooling, Jaz and I wouldn’t be vibing at all.

I was going crazy being stuck in this house. Actually, everyone was going crazy. It was just like Kaylin and Trae to have us caught up in some shit. Now here we were, stuck together like some damn cockroaches.

We need some fun up in here. I was thinking that after we got the kids and babies to bed, it would be on! It was going to be a party! Yeah! That was what these hos needed . . . some weed. It’s settled. Pajama Jammie Jam it is. That would lighten up everyone’s mood, and if it doesn’t then I’ma start smackin’ these hos back into reality.

“Hey, guys!” I said at dinner. “I think we need to have a girl’s night. We are long overdue.” I gave them my puppy dog face.

“Where the hell are we going to go with all of these kids?” Kyra asked.

“I’m talking about us. Here. Put the kids to bed and we break out the wine glasses, the weed, you know, like old times. A Pajama Jammie Jam!”
