- Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health
Before Rick arrived, I felt sick inside. This was a nightmare. I would’ve never knowingly put my wife and family in harm’s way. No amount of cash or thrill to get back in the game would compensate for the safety of my family.
As I sped on the turnpike, I struggled to keep my eyes on the road and keep an eye out for the police at the same time. Rick kept reminding me to slow it down.
Frightening thoughts were racing through my head. I love Jaz, my queen. I didn’t know what I would do if anything happened to her or our baby. Hell, all of them up there were family, and Trae and Kaylin put their trust in me to keep them safe.
As for Seven. It’s just strange. This chick showed up and all this shit started happening. The enemy sending a woman to infiltrate and then take you down was the oldest trick in the book.
I explained to Rick that I had already spoken to Don Carlos, and he assured me that updated information on Trae and Kay was forthcoming. I called Scarface and told him I was on my way. He said everything would be fine, and Don Carlos didn’t want to alarm the ladies, so he said to leave them be. Bullshit. If they thought they were going to hold my family hostage, they had another thing coming. Once Rick said he got the text about releasing the formula, I knew things were not good. We had our families in the belly of the beast.
Oh, Allah, please keep my wife and daughter and the rest of my family safe.
Chapter Thirty-Five
TRAE
Beijing, China
“Condition the mind. Condition the mind. Condition the mind,” I chanted in the darkness. Each day that went by, I was feeling stronger and stronger. I liked the peace and clarity that fasting brought me. While locked up in Cali, Faheem sent me this book called How to Eat to Live by the God, Elijah Muhammad. The book was on point. Because of it, I would experiment with fasting at least once a month. I felt good. It gave me what I can only describe as a natural high. I believe it’s because you can think clearer. The only catch is, you have to keep the peace, or you will no longer feel good. And right now, a nigga ain’t feeling good.
I was sick of these muthafuckas. They kept questioning me. I had gone through weeks and weeks of this bullshit. They would get us up in the middle of the night to ask us questions. It was as if they were intrigued to have some niggas up in their prison. Don Carlos’s lawyer assured me that they were simply going through the motions and for me to be patient.
