  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

“Look. Get over it! Let! That! Bullshit! Go! Mari is sick about Kyron. Even though my brother didn’t want her, she will never get it that Kyron was who he was. She’s obviously not going to stop until you both feel the way she feels. She that type of bitch. If she could have her way, she’d ruin y’all. You gonna let her?”

“I’m done talking about it.”

“You need to be. That shit is over. We got business we need to be on right now.”

We rode in silence the rest of the way to the airport.

Don Carlos had property all over the world. This meeting was at his vintage Victorian mansion in Connecticut. It was one of the older homes, with a brick front. The house was decorated throughout in antique furniture, old, famous paintings by Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and expensive vases. Expensive tapestries covered and adorned the hardwood floors throughout, and a Persian rug runner trailed through the hallways under vaulted ceilings. It screamed old money.

Bossy.

The butler led us into an office study and library and then disappeared. The Don was seated behind a big oak desk. His chubby face looking as if he had gained a few pounds since we last saw him. He stood up to greet us, and then he sat back down. He got right down to the first order of business.

“You two have always been like sons to me. You know that. Our nationalities were never a factor. And Trae, you know how disappointed I was when you began working with the Li Organization. Charles Li is lower than a snake’s belly. I trust that you have learned a valuable lesson from it. Like myself, I’m sure you are paying for your past actions and now your allegiance to him still hangs over both your heads.”

Trae didn’t respond, thankfully. His temperament could get ridiculous over the wrong things. His easy to ignite temper was his kryptonite. Don Carlos knew about the work our team put in for the Li Organization when Trae first went to jail. But if it meant that I had to dance with the devil to get Trae out, so be it. I had to do what need to be done. Yes, Charles Li was foul, but I had to risk it. I couldn’t leave him hanging. During that brief time, I made a lot of money with the Li Organization. Don Carlos was right. Trae pulled me into the Li Organization. Trae’s sins were now my sins. We were in until death.

It was Don Carlos’ connections and work behind the scenes that got Trae out. I’m sure wasn’t too easy especially since Trae collected a body while behind the wall. That nigga should be under the jail. The only way out with the Carlos Cartel was death. Especially since he collected a body while behind the wall.
