- Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health
“Daddy’s home now.” I melted into his arms as he kicked the door shut, pulling me close and holding me tight. I was so relieved and thankful to be in his embrace. The weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders. I felt as if I had been locked up too. When he was away, my entire universe was turned upside down. But now, I knew that my life was about to get back right. I broke down and cried like a baby. He patiently waited for me to get it all out as he rubbed my back while whispering in my ear. “I’m here now.”
The room was quiet except for my sniffles. When I finally got myself together, he stepped back and spun me around. “Can I get a good look at my wife please?” I was ashamed to let him see me this big. This was the most weight I had ever gained during any of my pregnancies. “Damn yo ass is fat!” He exclaimed.
The way he said it, wasn’t coming off as if he wasn’t pleased; it was more like shocked. Because a bitch was insecure as hell because of all the extra weight I gained. He obviously read the unsure expression on my face.
“I like it a lot.”
I rushed back into his arms. Realizing that he could have called me a fat ho and I wouldn’t have cared. Fuck what people say about not needing a man. I needed my king for everything. I never loved anyone the way I loved him. And I would always need and want him by my side. I wanted to grow old with this nigga. As long as he loved me and treated me like a queen, I’d be that ride or die and he’d be my king.
He wiped the tears from my cheeks and kissed me softly. “Bae, stop crying. You trying to make me sad?” I hugged him tighter, not even realizing that I was still crying. We just stood in the middle of the floor, enjoying the moment. The moment when no words needed to be spoken. This was our moment, and I didn’t want it to end. They say you don’t know how much you miss something until it’s gone. I had gotten tired of missing my husband.
“You gonna tell Daddy all about it, or are you going to just keep crying? What’s on your mind?” His hands slid down and were now gripping my fat ass.
“Don’t do that, Trae. You are making me feel fatter than what I already am.”
“I told you I like it. You gonna let me grip this fat ass or what? I love how soft it feels.”
