- Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health
I had been lying in bed getting comfortable, after Trae brought me home from the hospital. He brought me breakfast in bed. And even though it was IHOP, it brought back memories of how things used to be. How we took turns spoiling each other, doing breakfast in bed on the weekends, and me giving him a mani-pedi. I remembered how we used to feed each other and eat off each other’s plates. We were two peas in a pod. I missed that. I knew we could get back to that place. I was determined to get that comfortable love back again. But in order to do so, we have to dead that Charli/Kyron shit.
Why do men cheat in the first place? If a boss chick like Beyoncé gets her heart broken, then maybe I need to learn to roll with the punches? I wasn’t the only one whose man cheated. But why do they do it? No chick who had that answer shared it with me. Trae and I had a beautiful marriage and fulfilling sex life before the Charli and Kyron bullshit. Why did Trae have to fuck up what we had? I would’ve never fucked Kyron if he hadn’t done what he did. He drove me into another man’s arms, and now he couldn’t seem to get over it.
“We’ve got to fly out and take this meeting. As soon as Aunt Marva gets in, I’ll be leaving.” Trae’s tone was cold. There was something odd in his voice that I didn’t like. His hand was bandaged up and he wouldn’t tell me what happened.
“Bae, talk to me. What’s going on? You know the doctor said I have to take it easy and not get upset. What are these vibes I’m picking up from you?”
“I’m sorry, ma, but I fucked up. We said no more secrets, no more lies so I’ma just admit the shit. That envelope…it was in the trunk when I went to get your overnight bag. So, I figured while I was waiting for your food, I would check it out.”
“Envelope?” I cut his ass off. “Trae! No, you didn’t. Now you’re fucked up. That’s what you get, Trae.”
