- Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health
Before Mari could pull off good, I rushed to the truck to stop her while Angel excitedly greeted Kevin who had just pulled up. I wanted to holla at Mari for a minute to see why she tried to pull some fucked up shit at the baby shower of all places. I wasn’t fuckin’ around when I told her I needed to holla at her, and she tried to dip off.
“Yo, Mari. Wassup? Why you doin’ this?” I asked her when I got to her driver side window.
“Doing what, Kay?” she asked with red, puffy eyes.
I could tell that she’d been crying, but damn, for what? She needed to let that Kyron shit go! Shit that was my big brother and I deaded the nigga and even I wasn’t on it like that.
“You know what I’m talkin’ about, Mari. Why did you give Trae that package?” I looked her dead in the eyes. “You really want them to hurt how you hurtin’ right now? How can you live wit’ yourself while you’re tryna pull this wack shit?”
At this point, I was pissed. Angel went out of her way to make sure this day was special and here comes Mari attempting to fuck shit up. I knew that she was hurting, but I didn’t expect for her to come around my home trying to fuck shit up for Trae and Tasha. That was some grimy ass shit and it had me looking at her sideways.
“Yes! I want them to hurt like I’m hurting! It’s only right!” She screamed.
I shook my head in disappointment. I definitely thought about Kyron constantly, wondering if I had done the right thing at times, but Kyron was like a cancer in my life. A cancer that happened to be my own flesh and blood.
“This shit ain’t right, Mari, and you know it.” I told her.
She looked at me with pain and revenge in her eyes. “Promise me that you’ll make them suffer. Whoever killed my Kyron, promise me that you’ll bring them nothing but pain.”
All I could do was nod and agree. I felt guilty at times; especially when I looked at my mother.
“They will.” I replied, regretting that I had stopped her and hoping that would be the end of the conversation. Before I could attempt to walk away, Mari stopped me.
“I’ve hired a private investigator,” she announced, adding, “It’s not that I don’t trust your methods, but I need to be hands on.”
I couldn’t hide my surprised expression. This bitch is bananas!
“A private investigator? Do you really think that’s a good idea, Mari? Kyron had a lot of secret shit going on with a lot of people.”
“I don’t care about a lot of people, Kaylin. I only care about what happened to Kyron.”
