  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

She obviously had too much time on her hands so she used this as her way of having a reunion with the four of us. Angel worked her ass off, but I knew she missed all the ratchet shit we used to do. But the best part was that everyone had their man. So, this moment was bittersweet to me. I kept asking myself, why couldn’t Rick be with me? And only me?

I was so happy to see Trae, because Tasha, with her stank attitude, was turning us all out. But now, every time I looked over at them, she was holding onto him for dear life. She was suffering while he was away. I didn’t think she could have made it another day without him. I told her to count her blessings. I knew chicks whose men had been locked up for five, ten, fifteen or more years.

On the other hand, I didn’t know why the hell Angel would play me out like this. I specifically asked her not to invite Rick. Now, I would be wrong if I smacked the shit out of him, and out of her for that matter. I was not going to forgive her for this one and I meant that.

We were standing on the back porch, trying to talk quietly. “Kyra, the man wanted to come and be a part of your baby shower. You are carrying his baby, for crying out loud.”

“You promised me, Angel. I asked. No! I begged, you not to invite him. Bottom line is, he’s not leaving her, Angel. I can’t deal with him and this bullshit.” I couldn’t hold back the tears. “Kyra look, I know it’s a fucked-up situation but if we’re honest, you knew all that when you fucked him on Tasha’s porch and when you got pregnant. The good thing is, he doesn’t want to leave you either. We thought you were gone, and we tried to move on. Now,” she said and paused. “He-he’s trying to incorporate you in the family. Try to deal with this a little better than what you are doing.”

“Oh, please, Angel. Tell me this, how would you deal with this? What would you do?”

“I think I would deal with it a little better than the way you are.”

“That’s easy for you to say, when you are not seven months pregnant by a man who also has another family. Or should I say loves a woman who just gave him a son. He told her he’s not leaving me either so I should forget about him leaving her? How would you handle that, Angel?”
