  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

New York was still my city. I made my career here. I was even considering moving back this way. Start all over. But for now, I was more concerned with Nina and Kyra getting with the program. My program. There is only one of me and they both need me. So, why can’t we just do this shit? The brainwashing and negativity this society subjects us to when having a one man, two women relationship is a muthafucka. When a grown woman knows that she is the other woman, she willingly plays her position. She waits and sneaks around to talk, fuck, hang out . . . the relationship must exist on the low, as she creeps, she handles the shit with exceptional skill. Oftentimes for years. So, what was the problem with a nigga placing all the cards on the table? Why couldn’t I openly confess that I loved them both? Later for all of that sneaking and creeping around bullshit. This is a new day. They both claim they are in love with me and want to be with me, so why can’t we all just get along and coexist in harmony? They both know my situation is unique. I love two women. One who I thought was dead, and the other one who I fell in love with after the fact. What the fuck am I supposed to do?

On another note, it was cool for her girl Angel to throw her a shower and to invite and fly me in. I stepped into the house, hoping that when Kyra saw me, she wouldn’t start tripping. I spotted her talking animatedly with Jaz and Angel. When she turned to see who they were looking at, it was too late. I was already grabbing her hand.

“Angel!” She gritted her teeth. “You promised. You gave me your word.”

“She promised you what, Kyra? That I wouldn’t be here for our baby shower? That I wouldn’t be here to celebrate our special occasion? You really need to stop the bullshit.” I pulled her toward the door. “Let me talk to you, Kyra.”

“Rick, I told you to let me deal with this my way. You are not helping the situation.” She paused for a moment. “Actually, you are making it worse. Much worse by coming around trying to convince me to join your agenda.”

“So, what are we supposed to do in the meantime?”

“Leave me alone so I can wrap my head around our situation.”

“What is there to figure out. We love each other. You’re having my baby.”

“You know it’s more than that. What about Nina?”

“Nina is fine, as you should be.”

“No she isn’t. I need you to respect my space, Rick.”

“Fine, Kyra. I’m on the verge of giving you all the fucking space you’ll ever need.” I left her standing right there in the kitchen.
