- Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health
“Tasha, don’t even try it. I know you. Stay your ass down here. You need to be around the family. They traveled far to see you.”
“Fuck family, Angel! I’m sorry but that’s how I am feeling right about now. I told you I don’t feel well. The only family I want to see is my husband. And right about now, I need him more than anything.” Tears streamed from the corners of my eyes.
“Tasha, you know what? No! I am not going to ruin my peace and this family atmosphere that I worked so hard to create arguing with you! Yes! Go lie down for a few and get yourself together. But rest assured, Trae is a soldier. He’s good. You will see him soon. But I can see by your stinking attitude, you ain’t trying to hear any words of encouragement. Go and lock your angry ass in the basement for all I care. I don’t give a shit.” She waved me off and walked away.
That was exactly what I was going to do. Lock my ass in a room somewhere. I wasn’t feeling festive. All those pink balloons and streamers did nothing to uplift my mood. I climbed the stairs, made it to what used to be my old room, slammed the door, fell across the bed and allowed myself a good cry. It was just too hard to pull myself out of this slump.
FAHEEM
“All praise is due to Allah,” I whispered to myself.
I must constantly thank Him for getting myself and my family out of Atlanta safe and sound. I owe Him everything. I knew it was time to go after Jaz had Oni and Steele, the man who kidnapped my son because Oni and her brothers stole his drugs, killed. Well, she thought she had, but I was behind the scenes giving Snell the orders on how to carry out the murders. Now I was planning to kill everything moving that had anything to do with me losing my son and that included Steel’s people and Oni’s brothers. Leaving was the smartest move I could’ve made, because while initially I was telling Jaz to chill on the murders, once I tasted blood I wanted more. I was on my way to jail or hell if I had stayed another day seeking to avenge my son’s death. I thank Allah for giving me the strength to let go and leave. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.
