  43. Wahida Clark on Mental and Behavioral Health

“Depends. Did you find anything regarding her financial activity? Did you check her bank accounts, credit cards, any type of online accounts?”

“Nothing. But Tasha Macklin’s baby’s birth was registered, and she was born at Hampton Bays Hospital, not Mount Sinai.”

“Was there a home address?”

“Yes. The address of the apartment, but no one’s there. I haven’t been able to pin down a current location yet, but we are on the lookout for her and the baby now.”

“Great. You find her, you’ll find Mr. Macklin. And see if you can get the cameras at the hospital to see when she delivered and who was with her when she came in.”

“Got that. I’m on it.”

“How come no word on Mr. Macklin?”

“Your instructions were to find Mrs. Macklin.”

“Find out where he is within the next 48 hours and that will be an extra $10,000.”

Mr. Macklin, the love of my life was here in the city. I could feel him. I was getting closer.

MARI

I was just about to give up until I got the text highlighting the Amber Alert. My girl Dr. Gillis was a bad bitch! She knew I took Kyron’s murder hard, so she was willing to do anything for me. And now, with her help, I had a baby to look forward to. I dialed her number.

“Hey, lady!” I forced myself to sound cheery.

“Hey, diva. How have you been?”

“Oh, fine, now that I got that text. I have to give it to you. It’s brilliant how you were able to get that Amber Alert issued.”

“Gurllll, it wasn’t a simple task. But now, if she takes the baby to the doctor for shots, there will be an alert and the baby will be detained. The alert is like identity theft, but it’s better. It’s character assassination.”

“You are one bad bitch.” I stroked her ego.

“I told you I got you.”

“Where did she deliver the baby?”

“Hampton Bays.”

“Hampton Bays?” What the hell are they doing up in the Hamptons? I need to find Trae so I can begin my negotiations of getting the baby from Tasha, legally. I know she delivered Kyron’s baby. That’s what all this hush-hush and hiding out is all about.

“Renee, we’ve got to do dinner. My treat. I owe you big time for this.”

“Yes, you do. How about the tapes? Were they any help at all?”

“Yes, more than you will ever know.” Maybe Trae’s disappearance means he has left Tasha’s ass, I thought. “So, let me make sure I understand. Explain how the authorities will find the missing baby when there is an Amber Alert.”

“Well, the mother might take the baby to the doctor if it’s sick, or if she has to get the immunizations. Other than that, you’ll have to wait it out.”
