After talking things through with the team and assigning actions, Rachel sat down at her laptop to start pulling together all the information she needed to charge Adam Murray with two counts of murder. She put her headphones on. Playing music helped her concentrate and, right now, she needed to block out the sounds around her. Every conversation was a distraction, sending her thoughts off in other directions, away from Adam Murray.
She’d been working for over an hour, when she felt someone tapping her shoulder. Pulling off her headphones, she looked around and saw Ade standing behind her.
‘Is it urgent?’ Rachel said. ‘Because if it isn’t, I’d rather wait till later.’
‘I think you need to hear this,’ Ade said. ‘See, I sat in that interview and I couldn’t shake off the feeling that Adam Murray’s telling the truth. I don’t think he’s our killer, Rach.’
‘Feelings aren’t enough,’ Rachel said, ‘you know that, Ade.’
‘I know.’ Ade beamed. ‘Which is why I’ve taken another look back over the records from the original investigation into the crash. You’re not going to believe what I’ve just found.’

The day of the crash
Clodagh was shaking from head to toe. Rage tore through her, as she realised why she’d spent so much time by herself on this holiday. Vivienne was having an affair. With sleazy Nick Gilbert. All those times she’d disappeared, pretending she’d gone for a walk or been to the shops or had simply been by the pool and somehow Clodagh had missed her. Lies. This holiday had never been about Clodagh and Vivienne. It had been arranged so that Vivienne could spend time with him.
‘Clodagh, wait!’ Vivienne was hurrying after her, across the airport terminal.
‘Leave me alone,’ Clodagh hissed.
‘No. I need you to understand.’ Vivienne tried to grab her arm, but Clodagh shook her off.
‘Nick Gilbert?’ Clodagh said. ‘Jesus, Vivienne. I thought you had taste.’
‘He makes me happy, Clodagh. I’d almost forgotten what it was like to feel happy.’
‘How long?’ Clodagh said. Then, when Vivienne didn’t answer, ‘Oh no. This is my fault, isn’t it? I took you to his restaurant and introduced you to him. Was that when it started? Did you slip him your telephone number that night? Actually, you know what? I don’t care how it started. What about Adam? He doesn’t deserve this.’
‘Adam doesn’t care about me,’ Vivienne said. ‘He only ever cared about being with me because of who I am and the lifestyle I could offer him.’
‘Stop it!’ Clodagh said. ‘You lied to me. You said this holiday was about us spending time together. You said it was a coincidence that Nick and Gary were at the same resort. But it was just an excuse for you to be with him.’
