‘Hair samples from both bodies have been sent for testing,’ Rachel said. ‘Lots of fingerprints in Tara’s apartment, but none matching any of our suspects. Apart from Clodagh’s on the door, but we already know she found the body. Her train got into London at 3:55 p.m. We’ve got CCTV footage of her coming through the ticket barriers. Pathologist thinks Tara was killed earlier than that, so we know Clodagh’s not the killer. The floor in Tara’s apartment is tiled. No carpet. CSI found the outline of several shoes on the tiles. Some are Tara’s, it’s not clear where the others came from. The floor hadn’t been cleaned in several weeks so it was pretty dirty, which hasn’t helped. We’re still checking CCTV from the area around the apartment building. So far, Clodagh’s the only one of our suspects we’ve picked up.

‘We know Adam Murray met someone for coffee in St James’s Park on Wednesday morning. His alibi has confirmed he was with Adam until just after midday. Adam had a meeting with his TV company at 3 p.m. He says he browsed some bookshops until then.’

‘What about Simon and his wife?’ Sharon asked.

‘We interviewed Simon on Wednesday afternoon,’ Ade said. ‘It’s possible he could have got to London and back prior to that. But he swears that the first time he left his house that day was when he came here for his interview. We’ve spoken to his neighbours and none of them remember seeing him leaving the house in the morning. But he could have slipped out without being noticed. Bella’s work has a security system and we’ve already checked that. She entered the building at eight a.m. Wednesday morning and didn’t leave again until eight p.m. that evening.’

‘A long day,’ Sharon said.

Something snagged at the back of Rachel’s mind when Sharon said this. But she couldn’t focus on it now, because Sharon was looking at her expectantly.

‘She’s a computer technician at Max-Roysten,’ Rachel said. ‘They’re rolling out a new IT system and she’s putting in a lot of long hours, apparently.’

‘Ivan Babić?’ Sharon asked.

‘Still no sign of him,’ Ade said. ‘As far as we know, he hasn’t left the country. There’s no record of him going through any border controls.’

‘Well that’s something, I suppose. Anything else?’

‘Right now,’ Rachel said, deciding she might as well go for it, ‘my gut is telling me there’s something dodgy going on with Adam Murray’s foundation.’

Sharon’s right eyebrow shot up, while her left remained exactly as it was.
