Just hold your horses here alright? I’ll tell you in a second, Terry. Wait a minute, my leg, my leg. (Hobbles, fumbles with cigarette) Hold on, hold on, let me light my cigarette here. I’ll tell ya, just shut up. Alright? So I … so what happened was, wait a minute (Takes forever to light his cigarette) so I goes down to welfare, right? And I gets my check. And I pick up my methadone, right? So I say to myself I’ll snag a carton of Benson & Hedges, go home, drink my zombie juice, space, order up some chicken wings and shrimp fried rice—you know how I love my shrimp fried rice? Maybe take a bath, watch a little Oprah with Snowball. I deserve it. I deserve it. Been very stressed lately. What with Sondra calling me night and day. Oh yeah, she calls. She calls. Always bitchin’ about the kid. You know he’s in college now. Oh yeah. And she calls me wantin’ money, you know? And I say to her, Sondra, if I had the money I’d send the money. I love my kid, you know? I DON’T HAVE ANY FUCKING MONEY! Wait a sec, I’ll get to the leg, I’ll get to the leg!
So I gets home, I’m waitin’ for the Chink food to get delivered and I’m taking a minute to catch my breath, got Snowball on my lap and for two seconds—I’m happy. The phone rings. It’s Sondra. Like she’s got radar: “He’s happy, I better call him and give him shit.” And she starts with the money. And what can I say? I wish I had the money. I play Lotto every fucking day hoping I could get some money together to send to my kid. But the odds, Terry, the odds are stacked against me, always have been. So I hangs up on her and pull the phone outta the wall. That does it. Fuck the food. I’m doin’ the methadone now. So I gets out the bottle and all of a sudden there’s a knock on the door. Who is it? Carol, that satanic bitch. She just copped, she’s lookin’ for a place to fix, right? So she’s gonna lay twenty bucks on me so she can sit on my couch and catch a nod, right? So I’m sittin’ there, trying to stay calm, watchin’ her tryin’ to hit a vein, gettin’ blood all over the place. Finally I say, “Here let me do that,” and I find a spot in her neck, she got a great neck, hit her good. She’s out so fast, I’m bootin’ her ’cause you know if I take the spike out, she’s gonna be pissed. Right?
