Nas pulls into my parking lot and I can feel the tension in the air as we get out and start toward the door. He’s about to prove to me how much of a god in the bedroom he really is, and I’m beyond ready for it. This is what we’ve been building up to this entire time. We’ve talked enough. I’ve read enough. Now it’s time for action. I slip my key into the front door and push it open. We’re greeted by darkness and I step inside to turn on the lamp, but when I turn around, Nas is still perched against the door jamb.

“Alright, I got you home safely. Now I don’t have to worry about your friend hunting me down and stabbing me to death. I saw her glaring at me when I picked you up,” Nas says, before adding, “I hope you had a good time tonight.”

“I did,” I reply, doing my best to hold back my frown as I step closer to Nas who still hasn’t budged. I've read all of his books. I know the way this man's mind works and I want it. My darkness whimpers for it. Fuck, please take me and break me.

“Good. Well, before I go, I was hoping …” he says, and I brace myself for impact. I’ve been waiting for this for so long. “… To get your number.”

“What?” I snip with a deep furrow in my brow.

“Your phone number,” Nas repeats. “You gave me your Snapchat before, but I was hoping I could get your number. I had a great time tonight, and I’d like to see you again—as soon as possible if that’s okay with you.”

Nas pulls his phone out of his pocket and holds it out for me to take. I stare at him with a stunned expression, but I manage to lift my hand and take the phone, entering my number into his contacts.

“Thank you. I’ll call you tomorrow,” he says, before spinning on his heel. “Have a good night, Alina.”

My body deflates. All the arousal that built up inside of me melts away and forms a puddle at my feet. I can’t believe it. It’s like he was just teasing me. Buttering me up just to walk away. There’s no way he didn’t notice how into him I am. He must’ve seen the lustful look on my face in the restaurant, but if he did, why is he walking away?

“Wait!” I shout, stepping back outside as Nas turns around. “That’s it? The night’s over? You don’t want to come inside?”

Nas presses his lips together and nods. “I absolutely wanna come inside,” he says.

“Then why don’t you?”
