“I like the sound of that,” he says. “We can go back to my place. There’s something there I’d like to show you. If you're feeling up to it, of course.”
Nas and I share a look that only the two of us understand, and I smile. “I’ve never been more up for anything in my life.”
Chapter Nineteen
“Damn. This is your house?”
Nas closes the door to his Mercedes and steps next to me as I gaze up at the two-story structure, marveling at how beautiful it is. It was obviously custom built for Nas, because the paint isn't something you’d see in a development with an HOA. The color is a combination of dark and light grays, with black pillars that stand tall in front of the main entrance from the first floor to the second. The wide garage doors are black as well as the front door, with the only bright color coming from the white lights leading up the long driveway. The home is beautifully modern, and seems to fit perfectly with Nas’s personality and profession. There are other houses on the street, but they’re so far apart they can barely be seen from Nas’s place, and Nas’s security fence and gate protect him from prying eyes that may wander over. His neighbors may not know what he does or who he is, but I’m sure the look of Nas’s home makes them wonder.
After marveling over the outside of the house, I look down to find Nas’s hand extended to me. “Come with me. Let me show you around,” he says, grinning, and I take his hand and let him lead me to the front door.
We step into an open space highlighted by a wide staircase leading to darkness upstairs. Even in the dark, I can tell the home is immaculate and beautiful, with gray walls and white baseboards. When Nas flicks on the light, the entire space lights up, showcasing gorgeous black and white paintings. Every space on the walls is filled with something artistic and beautiful, and I find myself wondering if Nas had a decorator.
“Wow,” I exclaim, taking it all in. “You have a beautiful home, Nas. I’m impressed.”
“I’m glad you like it,” he answers, before leading me by the hand into the library to the left of the front door. Nas turns a knob on the wall and the lights slowly illuminate. All four walls are covered head to toe with books, making my jaw drop.
“Holy shit, this is like my dream come true,” I gasp. “You have an actual library in your house. It’s beautiful.”
