“Oh, you ignorant sonofabitch. Yeah, I want to be treated just like a whore by a man smart enough to know that I’m his, and he’s the only person I want to be a whore for. You’re just too dumb to realize that all the filthy shit you jerk off to when you’re secretly watching porn in my bathroom is what I want to do. I want to be fucked hard and rough. I want to be slapped. I want to come over and over again. I want to be treated just like a filthy whore by a man who deserves it, and that man definitely isn’t you.”
“Wow,” Vance whispers, shaking his head. “Well, I guess there really isn’t any reason for us to continue, is there?”
“I guess not,” I reply with a shrug.
“Fine. This is over,” he says, reaching into his pocket. Vance pulls out the key to my apartment and tosses it at my feet. “We’re done, Alina. Just do me a favor and don’t make this a big deal back at the office. We don’t need any drama from you.”
“Little boy, you won’t even exist to me after this moment,” I fire back with raised eyebrows. “As long as you don’t go running your mouth to your little boyfriends around the office, you’ll never hear from me again.”
“Fine.”
“Fine. Get out.”
Vance glares at me for a moment, and I can see the immaturity in his eyes. He wants to lash out somehow. Maybe he wants to slap me, or maybe just push me, but he won’t do it. Instead, he shakes his head at me as if it’s an insult, and turns on his heel. When he reaches the door, he opens it and looks back at me one more time, almost as if he’s expecting me to beg him not to go. But, he’ll get no such pleasure from me. He’s only worthy of my silent glare, and that’s all he gets before he walks out.
I stand in my living room all alone, a bit taken aback by it all. No one expects to wake up to an argument and get dumped first thing in the morning, yet here I am. I don’t feel bad about it, though. I feel lighter actually. It’s like I was carrying Vance’s literal bodyweight around with me everywhere I went, and now that he’s gone, I’m free to move about as I see fit. I’m free to find someone worthy of me. I’m free to rebuild and create a better relationship atop the ashes of the old one, and I’ll start right here in this living room. I’ll begin anew, right here at ground zero.
