I didn't know what to do after I released The Therapist Series in 2020. It felt like everything I wrote just wasn’t right, even though it was all well-written. I completed multiple manuscripts, but never felt like they were good enough to be published. Most people don't know what it’s like to finish a manuscript and then hate it. It’s like an artist creating a painting for months, just to complete it and immediately decide it’s ugly. It doesn't matter how many people think the art is beautiful. If the artist thinks it’s ugly, then it’s ugly, and will never see the light of day. So, I’m holding a few finished novels hostage on my Google Drive, but that’s okay. Maybe I’ll edit and revise them one day, but part of me feels like I had to write and scrap them in order to get to this book, so I’m thankful for their sacrifice.

I came up with the idea for Kingdom while I was writing another story. I was deployed to Qatar at the time, and was literally in the middle of writing one of the scrapped novels. Can you guess what it was called? It was The Patient. Art imitates life. Unfortunately for The Patient, my idea for Kingdom sent my imagination and excitement into the stratosphere. Finally, I had a book that I felt could follow the success of The Therapist Series, and give me a lane. I’ve been searching a long time to find a lane for myself, and this was it. BDSM-driven romance, with a touch of something dark. I was in love with the title, and when the idea of Nas being an author popped into my head, I was hooked. I guess the rest was history.

I hope my fans love this book, because I went through a lot to create it. The revisions for Kingdom were hefty, the cover was difficult for us to finish, and I’m currently writing these acknowledgements seventeen days out from release day. It has all been a grind, but I know it’s going to be worth it, because I finally did what I wanted with a novel. One hundred percent of this book is exactly what I wanted, and this is only the second time I’ve been able to say that. So, enjoy all the kinky, sadistic shit in this book. It’s my dream come true.

I’m obviously out of practice, because I barely remember how to write acknowledgements correctly. It’s going to be short and sweet, as usual, because my team is very small. First and foremost, I have to thank my wife, Roxanne. Baby Girl, I love you so much. Thank you for always being the help I need exactly when I need it. We are all over this story, and that makes it even more awesome.
