He hesitates before answering. “My preference is for you to choose while you still have the option to,” Nas replies, and for the first time, I hear a little spice in his tone as if he’s grown impatient just by giving me a choice.
“Oh,” I say with raised eyebrows. “Okay, then I choose to call you Sir.”
“Good girl,” he answers, and I have to bite my lips together, because the phrase never fails to affect me. “Next, did you notice the rug we stepped over at the entrance?”
“Yes,” I answer, and Nas’s eyes cut over to me. I’ve described him as intimidating from the very first moment I met him, but the look he gives me now makes me want to freeze and never thaw. He glares at me in a way that sends chills up my spine and I immediately feel the need to correct myself. “Sir!” I shout, but his expression doesn't change.
“Say it again,” he commands, his eyes never moving away from mine.
“Yes, Sir,” I say after swallowing the lump in my throat.
“Again.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Again.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Good. Get used to it,” he says, before shifting his eyes over to the two black doors we walked through to get here. “Now, do you see the rug at the entrance?”
“Yes, Sir,” I reply.
“That rug is where you’ll wait for me. You’ll kneel there with your hands on your knees, and your hair braided so it’s not in the way … and you’ll be naked. Every time. You’ll kneel and wait for as long as it takes. Do you understand?”
I want to ask questions. Would it be okay if I chose pigtails instead of a braid? Can I have undergarments on when I kneel? Do I leave the doors open or closed? Will he ever come down before me or will I always be first? It’s all new to me so I want to make sure I don't mess it up, but Nas’s demeanor has shifted in such a way that I don't want to piss him off. I can see the dark side of him, and because I haven't experienced it yet, I’m unsure of it. So, I nod. “Yes, Sir.”
“Good,” Nas says. He takes a step closer to me and offers his hand for me to take, and I grasp it as usual, standing up to meet his gaze. “Now, I want to explain exactly what this bench is for. All you need to do is listen. Don’t speak unless I ask you a question. Do you understand?”
My heart instantly starts to pound like I’m sprinting as Nas puts his hands on my hips and slides them underneath my shirt to grab my waist. It comes out as an unconfident mumble, but I manage to say, “Yes, Sir.”
