“Yes,” Nas answers. “The only way to perfect your craft is to learn all about it. The authors of these books were into BDSM before me, and they knew enough to write everything down. Once I realized this type of literature was out there, I made sure to do my homework before identifying as a Dom. After a few books I knew where I stood. It was the confirmation I needed, and I think anybody who wants to attach to an intense lifestyle such as BDSM should make sure they know what they’re getting themselves into. Make sure you know this is what you really want and who you really are. This isn’t a fiction book where everything is perfect from start to finish and everything is a turn on. In this lifestyle, things can go wrong and people can get hurt if they’re not careful. So, research is important. As for you, it’s not what’s on the shelves that concerns you right now. It’s what’s behind the doors.”
Following Nas’s gaze, I spin around and look at the two black doors between the bookshelves. I’m such a bibliophile that my eyes immediately went to the books when we reached the bottom of the stairs, and I somehow didn’t notice the tall, decorative black doors in the center of the small space. There are black sconces on either side of the doors, attached to black walls that make the entire area dark and intimidating, while the decorative header above makes the opening look like the entrance to a castle. Before I can turn around to ask any questions, Nas brushes past me and stands in front of the doors holding a black key.
“Like I told you upstairs,” he starts, looking at me in all seriousness. “Saying yes to this is one thing, but seeing all of it is another. In your particular case, reading it is one thing, experiencing it is another. So, if you see this and decide it’s not for you, just say so. I would never hold it against you, so please don’t be ashamed or afraid to be honest.”
I swallow hard. “Well, now you’ve got me nervous. I’ve read a lot of kinky books, so I have an idea what you're about to show me. However, I just need a warning first. What is it?”
Nas pushes the key into the lock and turns the black handle before looking over his shoulder at me. “This is my favorite place to be. This is where I reign and have full control. This is my world. This is my Kingdom.”
