  48. About the Author

They saw graffiti that said THE VIOLENCE OF POSITIVITY DOES NOT DEPRIVE, IT SATURATES; IT DOES NOT EXCLUDE, IT EXHAUSTS.

And later another graffiti that said:

HARDEN YOUR ARTERIES

HARDEN YOUR HEART

Leeham said to Great Uncle Dole Man that he wanted to go home it was getting dark and he was worried about the Grooming Gangs that still operated from the area. And Great Uncle Dole Man said no problem but asked of Leeham if he even really know were Home was in that specific sense of an actual location. And Leeham searched his memory and said no.

They continued walking.

Then as they went along a Cop Car drew up alongside them unexpected and Great Uncle Dole Man made a run for it out into the field, running through the poppies and escaping by disappearing into a place of some bushes. Cops put Leeham in the back of the car. He dint say nothing. When they got him to the station it was a enormous hangar like the kind of building that had once been a factory of some kind and it was full of many people, most of them dead but alive like Leeham. Leeham never seen so many people in one place in his whole life really he dint like it in there.

One of the Cops took Leeham out the big room and down a corridor, put him in a room with a green door and bars on the windows no curtains. The Cop said Leeham he had to wait and Leeham shrugged. Even when he was alive he was anyway mostly handing around doing nothing so it dint make much odds to him. He spent his time reading the graffiti on the walls of the room where previous incumbents had tried to spell out there names and assorted hexes and curses on the persons what had incarcerated them there.

FUCK BREXIT one had written.

REVERSE THE DIRECTION OF THE SNOW AND THE RAIN had written another.

And in another corner one brittle hand had scratched and scraped the same sad message again again and again:
