- About the Author
Dead kid with the ball looked around and saw that the only other dead person left awake then was Leeham. Kid kicked it to Leeham at the touchline who just kind of kicked it back but the ball went past the last dead player kid and instead of pursuing it the dead kid just folded down like a puppet, crumbled on the earth.
Cars went past on the gray highway above like totale oblivious, cars full of drivers and passengers and Sunday drivers and back seat drivers listening to all their awful Music incl. latest hits of Vera Lyn like White Cliff Richard of Dover. And listening to their DJ’s banter inexhaustible and telling people they can just call in to win a prize or whatever or what’s their opinion if Tony Blair should really have been hanged or not or should M. Markle have been long ago subject to crime prosecution for alleged having an Abortion.
Anyway. Leeham got the ball and took it to the goal line, past a whole bunch of dead sleepers none of them look like they gonna get up ever again tbh it is not a fair football contest with just one moving player on the pitch. Leeham goes past them even with basic skills he has. Facing the open goal Leeham thinks about scoring but reckons it maybe bad luck to kick the ball into an open net so in the end just leaves it there balanced on what would be the goal line, and he walks away from the match now anyway forgotten by the others and he walked down the field, away from the match, away from the embankment where the crash was all them years and years (?) before and he keeps walking. Like he has to go somewhere but he does not really know where.
*
Leeham crosses the field and gets to a smaller road or track that is not the big road where the crash site was it is smaller. On the road a junction. Says one way to Butter Mountain. The other to Milk Lake. He walks toward the direction of Milk Lake.
On the road he meets a guy who says he is called Great Uncle Dole Man. Great Uncle Dole Man also says he is dead what about Leeham but Leeham is still kind of in denial that is why he is so quiet about it and doesn’t want to say.
Great Uncle Dole Man talks as they are walking, like the talking is just there to fill the silents really and they go along the road, falling in step.

They passed through a development corridor which was all a lot of construction/ refurbishment of buildings and all that also a place where there was a hole in the rendering of the landscape and things had not been properly completed so the wireframe could be seen. And then they also passed through a different part of town. And another different part.
