- About the Author
How in the sodden wreckage, charred and broken they found a shelter in the form of a temporary cabin or office-like portacabin structure and how within it they truly feared a grave. And how when Codswallop and Chlamydia tore off the door to that place, away from its hinges, their hair tangled, faces so mad with grief and rage that it broke men’s hearts to see them, they found instead inside, still living, Valiant and Plaster, the two kids curled together in the wreckage of that cooling furnace, reading still, together, from that found book The Old Gods of Endland.
How Codswallop wept for joy and sorrow and then again for joy and how she held them, her daughter and also her not-daughter Plaster who would later be her daughter. And how Promestheus turned up also, having been otherwise detained for entire of the previous months for a reason that is not recorded cos of legal injunction, also weeping, and then holding Valiant his daughter and also Plaster his not-daughter who would later be his daughter.
How the Gods warred with Endland on account of this whole story. Seeking vengeance or legal compensation for the deaths of Artemis and Meth Head and Centrifuge. It was pretty much irrational but that’s how it was and the court cases dragged and dragged right on.
How in the charred office, floor flooded now with sea water, Valiant, Codswallop and Plaster stayed for 1 further hour together to sit at the old desk in there and finish the book. Taking turns to turn over the pages, reading the short texts that went with the pictures. And here and there – when they came to some more ridiculous parts of the narratives – Plaster would ask a sceptical question to Valiant as if to say in so many words did it really happen like that, or is that really possible, did it really happen in that exact way as described. And Valiant would nod and assure her yes, it was all just as written, all true and most accurate, it all happened just exactly as described.
