These Asian kids are just like the blacks. Oh, my great-great-grandfather was a slave so I should get special benefits! It’s not my fault I’m a lazy crack addict, it was the white slave owners! Why don’t minorities grow up and TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY?!?

FlowrChylde

I hope you die you racist pig

lonestranger

There were hundreds of laws passed AFTER SLAVERY ENDED that prevented blacks from owning homes, going to school, getting jobs, and even getting healthy food. Political candidates literally MADE UP the war on drugs and scapegoated blacks and Latinos. I’d say that it’s time for whites to take some fucking responsibility.

realAmerican

lonestranger what race are you?

lonestranger

Why does it matter?

coolstoryhansel

Racist xenophobes like realAmerican are exactly why we need to rename the school. Keeping the name shows that we think it’s ok to round up people just cuz they share an ethnicity or a religion with overseas enemies.

realAmerican

In wartime you have to take all necessary precautions to keep your nation safe. That’s the price we pay for liberty. If you don’t want to pay it then get out of my country.

coolstoryhansel

Our nation is NOT safe for its own citizens. That’s my point. We’re attacking innocent Brown and Black citizens because racist cowards like you have painted them as monsters. You’re the real monster.

Bravagrrl

The McAllister family profited off the oppression and illegal incarceration of innocent people. Trey McAllister’s entire career—his entire life—is built on other people’s suffering. What’s wrong with changing the name of the school to honor the man who really owned the land, instead of the man who stole it?

realAmerican

Are you triggered, snowflake?

Bravagrrl

Not triggered. Just explaining why I support the name change.

DubNation35

Well if that’s where you’re going with it, why not name it after the Mexican rancher who owned it before him? Or the Native Americans who lived here before that? You gonna name every school around here Ohlone High School? How about the hospital? Or the library?

Bravagrrl

All of that is fine by me.

TODAY’S WEDDING WAS FOR ONE OF HANNAH’S friends, so she stayed to party after we set everything up. Owen took off to get ready for his date or his nondate or whatever it is with Sabrina and Co., and I came home and spent the rest of the afternoon alone. I brainstormed a list of ideas for a presentation to the school board meeting next month. After that, I meant to make flyers to put up around Japantown and Willow Glen, saying why we need to rename the school. I did not mean to spend the afternoon messing around making flyers advertising a student line of flower magic. But somehow it happened.
