  48. About the Author

Paparazzis wandered to the nonmathematical centre of the picture where the devastated coach stood w roof torn off and burning flames, taking pictures freely, all around them an incompetent circumference of dead kids and their sad little rucksacks printed and decaled w outdated logos of Sentimental Brand © .

Jackdaws and Carrion crows soon landed and in the eerie stillness mobile phones wer ringing and ringing and ringing again like smaller lost birds chirruping from their places hidden dazed and dispersed in the sorrow of the ground, each call just some distant loved ones seeking word of those by now dearly departed.

Despite fact that they were technically dead tho the dead kids of the football team slowly got up from the wreckage slowly anyhow – dead rising slowly like wreaths wraiths in the mist itself and on dead legs walking to ‘leave physical bodies behind’, brushing dirt from cut dead knees and dead heading slowly over the metal barriers. Dead kids skidding and tripping dead feet down the embankment to the green nearby field just below to start up some sort of dead informal kickabout.

Once down there two dead captains were quickly elected and match started. Only youngest of the dead kids name of Leeham (sic) dint start to play right away just stood sidelined on the touch line of the match watching all while as dead kids whizzed past him booting the ball this way and that other way. Dead kids played five (5) a side, one (1) match fifteen (15) minutes each way, shirts and dead skins, the dead skins winning it four (4) goals to three (3) and then start right away another match, the dead skins going One (1) – Nil (0) down after five (5) minutes despite exhortations of the recently deceased captains.

Lite in the nite sky faded a bit.

Leeham stood watching while the game progressed, from time to time stealing looks back to the darkening crash-site above wherein the rescue workers were still working, carting out bodies on stretchers, their torches (acetylene) bursting fire in the air to cut away crashed cars, sending shivers in L’s dead spine.
