- About the Author
Only half way thru the film does Kelly realise it is set in FORT FOG and the apartment that serves as the main location is in fact the one she once shared with Alphonse (see above). Strange for K to see the bed what she and A had fucked in shared now by Sir Peter Violence and Karla Labia, stranger still to see Ludger Shat hovering on the stairs just outside their apartment in the dark, his trousers half down, as if waiting for Labia, but also, of course as if waiting for her.

After the film Kelly goes walking round the precinct and finds a bloke who will sell her drugs. She gets this stuff that when you shoot it up breaks the past into thousands of pieces then speeds it all up to replay.
Kelly checks into the Station Hotel and then, lying on the bed, staring upwards, she shoots up the stuff. Above her Kelly can see the decorative carved figures of rabbits and foxes curled amongst leaves in the plasterwork high on the early 20th century ceiling but the ceiling has been painted so many times that the animals are somehow blurry, lost and twisted like her dreams.

Time shatters, speeds around.
K sees her dad again and talks to him.
She sees Alphonse again. And touches his dick.
Then she returns to some scene she has long forgotten and which in Sigmund Freudian terms is the origin of all her anxiety (etc etc). The scene is vivid but the contents tedious to all but her. She cannot confront it. She screams, runs into the bathroom (en suite) to hide. Her screams are covered by the sound of the departing trains.
She remembers the graffiti outside her house in the Falls road:
SENTIMENTAL SUBJECTS ON TELEVISION
ARE AN EMOTIONAL WANK OFF
She remembers the sight of blood.
And then she is falling, falling falling.
*
K falls for thirteen years. She falls and falls. Then finally she falls through a hole in the welfare system safety net and she keeps on falling, going down down and downtown into a dark hole untill she lands and breaks her back on some stones.
When she awakes she is inside a cave in which the people are all sat facing away from the entrance, transfixed by the shadows cast on the wall of events taking place just outside.
K goes over to this lot and tires to persuade them that what they are looking at is just shadows or a video projection of some type, just fleeting images of the real world and not the real world itself. But the cave dwellers argue with her, transfixed by the shadows, seduced by them and somehow the more K tries to argue the less convinced she is of her sanity and soon she is getting confused abt which way she thinks is out.
Anyway.
K is 43 when she comes out of the cave.
