  48. About the Author

And Codswallop said that, altho her heart could break from speaking it, her opinion was that on balance they should not intervene – the history of the world, she said , was a history of adventurism and it was a well known fact that every time internvetion (sic) took place it was usually a disaster. Look at War in Iraq and toppling of S_____ Hussein to give one (1) example, or the hapless/hopeless UN Forces that another time did nothing to stop the massacres in Srebrenica. Those were Human interventions as example some of the more querulous Gods started to murmur but Codswallop silenced them saying  in her opinion Gods were no better at it. Most times Gods went down to earth she argued they just fucked things up the worse, create chaos for people and also generations incl. wars, famines, broken families and tidal waves – she did not innumerate (?) all the examples. It should be obvious she said also the Gods had sworn a solid oath about it many times and they probably had to stick to it.

And then Rama asked again. Noble Codswallop for the AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT what is your counsel in fact?

Codswallop wept agen. All things considered and considered again, she said, she dint think they should sent down any search and rescue teams or armies to locate Valiant or Valuation or whatever her name was. They should let Nature take its course.

And with that statement she swept from out of the chamber, leaving the rest of Mount Olympus in their respective state and ‘emotional turmoilz’.

*

Down on that Earth meanwhile, Valiant or Valuation fell deep in the storm of water that was called the sea, flailing her arms, unused to the gravity of Earth, the air of it, the smells, the depths and dangers. She fell deep below the water, the brief span of her young life sinking past her or rising as bubbles to the surface as she drowned in the green of ‘seaweed tatters’ the cold of salt water and other ‘always changing sea stuff that were his eyes’ ©.

She thought she would die, for even Immortal Gods can die on Earth, and she thought how strange it was for the end not to come in Olympia but instead on Earth and there not even to die actually on Earth, on level/solid ground, but on Earth below the water, the water that was already getting deeper thanks to her tears.

Plunging down, lungs filling fast, Valiant or Valuation passed out, her body sinking, lifeless, a ragdoll of dark polluted fluid and accelerated delirium.
