  48. About the Author

In her new job (ie as landlord of the pub) G got minimum wage and soon skipped away the worst of useless interior décor and other like gimmicks introduced by the Ogre and his wife Ogre (Ogress) as the previous managers. She it was that got rid of their blackboards for menu and jokes of the day, shelves of stupid books no one knows how to read, the cabinets of like fake ‘mummified remains’, paintball weapons, posters of Kardassians (sic), strippers etc, repainting the whole place, rebranding and re-opening again but w the old name (The George and Dragon) restored as replacement for the new smart ass self-conscious name that ogres had chosen and no one was ever able to remember.

There were certainly ups and downs to the pub business, hardships and dilemmas of all kind of cause incl supply and demand as well as staffing issues for all nite all day all nite shifts plus extra trouble managing reputation of the place (Pub) cos of all that happened there before (killing of Ogres, grinding of bones on the premises etc). But soon things was going alright with profits, Brewery happy and tax man contented and many a legendary and convivial evening of the estate was held in there including famed cabaret appearance of Led Dawson and Les Zeppelin, and the time regulars like Len and Rajni bet Marcella that Doreen wasn’t wearing her hearing aid and all the many amount of hilarity that ensued.

Time passed in Endland (sic) with a few of what they call in that place ‘good yrs’ ©. Gina and her surviving sister(s) were reconciled. Her Mum’s lover Louise came back round again, too late she did not know or hear that Martha had passed away. Anyway Louise was very very old by then and had that kindness and total fucking clarity that comes sometimes for people when they know they are somehow out of the game.

Gina fell in love also. (Woman call Yola).

Then the war came (different than before) and her love was taken in the battle.

Or her love was taken by Home Office and deported forever on a plane.

G was alone then. Again.

Her dreams were calm though. With old Louise she sat in front of the TV w sound turned down and talked about her mum, the years she had missed back during her foolish and unfortunate youth as was spent largely uploaded to internet. Of details what happened to her there G still dint say much.

When time came (Miner’s Strike) Louise also left (deceased). Then it was only Gina what lived there at the pub and she tired to continue, tried to continue in the life.
