Superintendent Bailey: I understand. It’s possible that it shows the missing woman falling, but it’s far from clear. Since she remains missing, it is certainly a possibility. I appreciate you collating these clips for me. We will also be reviewing the entire footage ourselves, and will come back to you if we have any further questions. Thank you for your time.

The Caribbean
It’s difficult to think about anything other than Lola as I go about my usual cleaning duties. Everywhere I go on board reminds me of her. The pool deck where she and I did ‘surprise’ aerial performances at sunset once a week. The three-level 24-hour spa with the warm waterfall Lola would sometimes sneak into in the middle of the night if one of her friends was on the door. The windows of the designer shops with the items she always coveted and would drop heavy hints about if someone on board was a particular fan of hers, which was often. The ‘rainforest walk’ of tropical trees where there was a ‘downpour’ every hour, on the hour, to the delight of the kids on board and many of the adults too. She loved it, and would squeal like a delighted child if she was underneath when the deluge began.
There was no way I’d have found a new dancing job the way things are the moment in the business, especially without my dance partner. And even though I don’t desperately need the money, it somehow feels right to stay close to Lola. As well as that, I feel I need to stay close to keep on top of what they find out. So I am not taken by surprise.
But at the same time, being here is hard. The constant gossip and speculation is getting on my nerves. You’d think the crew would have a bit more respect when discussing Lola around me. But all they can talk about is who she may or may not have been sleeping with (I’ve heard Doctor Stuart, Engineer Rick, Safety Officer Bill, Captain Leo and even Chef Alice mentioned, among others – none of which are true as far as I know), and whether someone killed her because they were jealous. Speculation about where she was when she was meant to be doing the show, whether she killed herself or not, and why. Or whether I killed her.
The investigation is officially ongoing. Myself and a few of the other crew members are being questioned. I am dreading my interview. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with it. I’m not a very good liar.
