  48. About Author

She giggled and hopped off the bed to follow me in the living room. Finn was there, dressed in a black jacket over his grey shirt. He had on dark denim jeans that hugged him in all the right places, and his hair was perfectly styled as opposed to the mess it usually was. He leaned against one of the wooden supporting columns at the entrance to the living room, talking to my mom. Although I couldn’t hear exactly what they were saying, judging by her shy smile, I assumed he was charming her with that sweet accent and perfect smile. It almost irritated me how good he looked, whether dressed up for a date or casual on a red-eye flight, Finn Beckett caught the attention of every female in the room.

My footfalls on the floor had Finn turning his head to me. For only a second, he was speechless. The same Finn who talked my ear off on a plane and randomly spouted facts about the Titanic on our ten-minute drive was in front of me, staring like I was clad in only my underwear, his jaw dropped and eyebrows raised. It wasn’t long, but under his lust-filled stare, I felt all of the things that I told myself in the mirror five minutes previously. I am sexy. I am fun. And my boyfriend thinks I look amazing. He quickly turned his open mouth into a twisted smile.

“Hey, Grinchy. Love the shirt. You ready to go?” He winked at me, and I felt blood pooling in my cheeks. I looked down at his favorite team’s shirt and felt like I was in high school going on my first date.

“Yeah, I am.” I tilted my head when, from behind Finn, Mom gave me two thumbs up, looking up and down Finn’s posterior. I widened my eyes and gave a look telling her to stop checking him out. She only grinned back.

Taylor spoke up. “Did you call her Grinchy? Olive, I thought you loved Christmas?” My body stiffened and my face turned red.

“This girl?” Finn laughed. “Absolutely not. She wouldn’t watch any holiday movies with me on the plane.”

The way he spoke made it sound like we planned to fly here together, and I was grateful.

“Okay, let’s go. Don’t want to be late!” I interrupted their conversation before anything else could be leaked.

“Have fun! Be safe kiddos.” Taylor's wink made me roll my eyes as I grabbed Finn’s wrist to pull him out of the house.

This seemed like a good idea in hindsight.

I stayed up late the night I told Olive I would give her Twelve Days of Christmas, writing down every romantic thought that came to mind. When this one popped up, I thought it would be sweet. I was wrong.
