“Okay. If you don’t know the answer to a question, let me answer. No embarrassing me.” Well, that’s out the window. “No flirting when we’re alone. No physical touch unless it’s necessary. No kissing. And don’t find yourself alone with Sarah.”

Man, I had some plans for some of those. But the last one puzzled me the most. “Why can’t I be alone with—”

“Just promise me you won’t.” This time her sweet face turned more serious, and a gut feeling told me there was more to this story, but I nodded.

After a beat, I attempted to lighten the mood. “So that means you agree? I can woo you for the next two weeks?”

She rolled her eyes and cut me a look that said don’t even think about it. “Sure. And it’s only twelve days now. And I said no flirting when we’re alone.”

I stuck my hand out for her to shake. “I doubt that will last long, but I will do my best.” She hesitated but eventually reached out to shake my hand. Her soft fingers lingered on my calloused ones and I studied her hands, with her rounded nails painted a soft pink. There is absolutely no reason for me to be turned on by her hands. Nope.

When her hand left mine, I checked the time. We had been in here for over ten minutes, and I’d hoped her family didn’t think we were in here doing the hanky-panky.

“We should probably go.” I nodded my head to the door on my right.

Olive nodded back and picked up her gloves. “You ready?” I asked her in hopes she’d say yes.

She nodded again. “I guess so.”

I opened the door for her. “Well let’s do this.”

She gave me the tiniest little smile and although it wasn’t much, I would take it. She walked past me, and I couldn’t stop myself.

“Go team.” I playfully smacked her butt like we were a couple of football players going to the playoffs. She turned to me and gave me another stern look.

“Too soon?”

“Way too soon.”

You know how some people say skiing is like riding a bike? Okay maybe nobody said that. But in my mind, I could have sworn it would be the same thing.

I could not have been more wrong. I went skiing once when I was around seven years old. I remember I was not great at it, but after a couple of hours I got it down and thought today would be the same. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
