The nerve of this guy. I wondered how often someone told him no; it was obvious he thought he could use that charming smile and sweet-as-candy accent to get anything he wanted. Well, almost anything. Me being on my knees for him would not be one of those things.

“Excuse me? You are a stranger, and I will do no such thing,” I scoffed at him and leaned toward the window, away from his cozy warmth—even as I mourned the contact.

“We will see about that.” Yes, we will. Finn was cocky, and I knew the remainder of this flight would be filled with his persuasion methods. What he didn't know was that his attempts would be futile, because I am always in charge. I reached for my headphones and went to play the next movie in the series, needing to block out his babbling.

I clicked on the next movie in the series and leaned back in my seat. I kept my eyes straight ahead and pretended not to notice Finn picking up his own headset and tuning into my screen. He leaned closer to me, and I put all my focus into the movie and none on the clean laundry scent he was sending my way.

Soon enough, my eyelids grew heavy, and I relaxed into my chair. I drifted to sleep, falling into a slumber filled with dreams of my days far before I stepped on this plane.

I planned on falling asleep soon after Olive. I was exhausted and had drank too much. Plus, it was three in the morning, and I was running on half a bag of peanuts.

But, shortly after Olive drifted off to sleep, her head shifted onto my shoulder. I started to move and let her lie on the armrest, but I was frozen. Looking down at her pretty blonde hair splayed across my shoulder, her mouth slightly parted as her breath evened out…it was like a snowflake had landed on my shoulder, a crazy, grouchy, beautiful snowflake. I certainly wasn’t going to be the one to wake her. I already had enough of her attitude when she was awake and sober; I didn’t want to see what that looked like when you woke her up from sleeping off a buzz.

So, I stayed awake. I could easily catch up on sleep since I had tomorrow off from work. I watched the rest of the wizard movie because I was too scared to reach over and change it to anything else.

A familiar ding came over the speakers followed by a woman’s hushed voice, “Ladies and gentlemen, we will be landing in about thirty minutes,” she said, then proceeded to advise us on landing procedures.
