He scowled at me. “What are you wearing?”

I looked down at the men’s long-sleeve shirt and sweats. “Oh, ya know. Just some casual workout clothes.”

He eyed me as he backed down the long driveway. “He’s got a nice place. That view is sick.”

I excitedly nodded my head. “He bought it after his injury in cash so he wouldn’t have a mortgage. And he has a back porch that is really nice when it’s not super cold. Did I tell you that he—”

Matt scoffed, cutting me off. “I don’t think I’ve heard you talk this much in years.” He kept his eyes forward but shook his head. “I don’t know what he’s done to change things, but you are obsessed.”

I laughed. “I am not obsessed, I just like him a lot. Besides it’s not like it’s serio—” I cut my sentence short.

“It’s not serious?” He questioned. “It’s the first time you’ve brought a guy home since that last dickhead, and you think it’s not serious?” He was beginning to sound like his wife, meddling in my affairs.

“I just mean I like him a lot, but it’s not like I’m rushing to walk down the aisle or anything.” I shrugged in hopes that sounded believable enough.

“Whatever you say, kid.”

I turned my gaze to the snowy road and wondered to myself, was I obsessed with Finn?

I mean I liked him…a lot. From the moment I first laid eyes on him, I thought he was attractive. But by getting to know him, I realized he’s more than a pretty face. I really like how much he loves his job, and how kind he treats me. I like how he whispers sweet things in my ear when I’m anxious. I like the way his shirt smells on me, and how he carefully traces my legs with his long fingers. I especially like when he runs a hand through his hair so it fell perfectly—.

Oh no.

I was obsessed with him. Ever since I agreed to our crazy arrangement Finn was all I could think about. I widened my eyes as another thought occurred to me. Was I in love with Finn?

No way. You couldn’t love someone after not even two weeks. It was insane, absolutely ridiculous. I’d been in love before, and it hadn’t been anything like this. With Finn, the feelings burning up my chest gave me cardiology concerns, and my stomach felt like I was dropping down a steep roller coaster. I never experienced this with my ex. I never felt on fire for him, except when I walked in on him balls-deep into another girl. Back then I definitely wanted to set something on fire.

A buzz from my phone interrupted my thoughts.

Unknown: It’s Logan. Can I see you?
